Just one look at this vibrant finely ground green tea is enough to perk you up. Made from premium grade matcha green tea powder sourced from Japan, it's the result of shade-grown green tea leaves, which are hand-plucked, deveined, destemmed and stone ground. Blended with cacao, cinnamon and natural flavouring, a small amount of the fine powder is then whisked and mixed with hot water to create this sweet-flavoured brew with typical matcha undertones and a creamy mouthfeel. Add hot milk of your choice – hemp milk or oat milk is perfect for a vegan dairy-free tea – whisk in a bowl for 30 seconds (see below for the tools you need), then pour and enjoy.

Why is matcha powder bright green?
The best matcha comes from Japan, where farmers have refined the technique of producing this distinctive green tea over hundreds of years. The process starts as they cover the tea bushes with mats a few weeks before the spring harvest, the lack of sunlight 'pushing' the plants to produce high levels of chlorophyll. The result? Matcha's brilliant green colour and a nutrient-rich brew.
The health benefits of Matcha green tea
The key health benefits of this powdered green tea is down to the plant-derived category of antioxidants called catechins. One – epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) – is found in particularly high quantities in matcha. While all fine green teas have a strong antioxidant and amino acid component, research has shown the concentration of EGCGs in matcha tea to be 10 times greater. Studies have found that EGCG can help prevent cellular and genetic damage by neutralising the unstable molecules known as free radicals. As well as being associated with having cancer-fighting properties, EGCG has been linked to lowering high blood pressure and a reduction of 'bad' LDL cholesterol.
